Juventus celebrate 100 years under the Agnelli family but John Elkann insists this is ‘Year zero’ for the Bianconeri saying he wants to make the club stronger ‘on and off the pitch.’

The Old Lady’s owner spoke from Geneva where he attended the Science Gateway inauguration on Saturday, hours before the Derby della Mole between Juventus and Torino.

“The 2023-24 campaign is a celebration of a 100-year bond between my family and Juventus and it’s also a year zero because it’s the year from where Juventus restart from a more solid base,” Elkann said as quoted by La Gazzetta dello Sport.

Stellantis’ Chairperson and Exor’s CEO will be at the Allianz Stadium later today to watch the Turin derby.

“It’s always a special game, very difficult and important for Juventus, especially not having European games this season,” he said.

“It’s an open championship, which makes it even more interesting.”

On Friday, Juventus’ board approved the draft balance sheet for 2022-23 with circa €123m losses, but the club also announced a capital injection in the region of €200m.

“The work we are making and its solidity allows Juventus to project the future on and off the pitch,” said Elkann.

“What we know is that if one is strong off the pitch, then it becomes stronger on the pitch too.”

Elkann also spoke about Pogba who has failed counter-analysis after testing positive for testosterone on August 20, following Juventus’ away game at Udinese.

“Humanly, I am sorry, he’s been one of the biggest potential talents over the last few years,” concluded Elkann.
