John Elkann insists Juventus fans should feel ‘very fortunate’ to have experienced an ‘extraordinary decade’, but it is time to build for the future.

One of the heirs to the Agnelli family fortune and the chief of their parent company Exor, Elkann spoke to RAI programme Porta a Porta in a show marking what would’ve been legendary patron Gianni Agnelli’s 100th birthday.

“We are very fortunate as a generation to have experienced nine consecutive Serie A titles, which beat the record of five in a row that my grandfather remembered when he was a child,” said Elkann.

“What Juventus achieved in this decade has been extraordinary. We have a team that is being renewed and the average age brought down, so as we know, when someone wants to build for the future, the focus has to be on youth.

“That in turn means there are going to be some adjustments.”

Juventus crashed out of the Champions League at the Round of 16 to 10-man Porto and are lagging behind Inter and Milan in the Scudetto race.
