Juventus owner John Elkann insists the Bianconeri are not up for sale as he doesn’t want to abandon one of the passions of his grandfather Gianni Agnelli.

Elkann spoke to the French financial paper Les Echos, also touching on the recent issues faced by Juventus.

His cousin Andrea Agnelli resigned as the Bianconeri’s president in November 2022 and the Serie A giants have recently been docked 15 points due to financial irregularities.

“Andrea remains a shareholder in our holding Giovanni Agnelli BV, where he is part of the board,” said Elkann, as quoted by Calcio&Finanza.

“He made excellent work as a Juventus President for 10 years and decided to step down along with the club’s board to better defend himself from accusations that, as of today, have absolutely not been proven.”

The Agnelli family has been at the helm of Juventus for 100 years and Elkann is unwilling to sell the club. “It’s a strong bond which resisted various crisis during its existence,” he said.

The chairman of Stellantis and CEO of Exor stressed that he doesn’t want to abandon “one of the passions of his grandfather.”

“I’ve always admired his courage,” Elkann continued.

“If there is an example he gave me, it is to always take responsibility, also in difficult moments.”

Gianni Agnelli, nicknamed L’Avvocato, is one of the most iconic presidents in the history of the Bianconeri and one of the most prominent Italian businessmen.

Only two days ago, on January 24, Juventus paid respect to L’Avvocato on the 20th anniversary of his death.
