“Kevin is a big loss,” El Shaarawy admitted, speaking to Sky.
“He was a charismatic man in the dressing room, a player who made himself heard. On the other hand there are some very talented youngsters in whom the club wanted to invest and in whom we as teammates really believe.
“We can’t rush to judgements after two league games, our young people are talented and they’ve shown it, but we need to let them grow in peace.
“There have been some notable departures, but I would say that last year we had the exact some discussions – and in the end we reached the Champions League semi-finals.”
