The Milan youngster scored for the Azzurri in their 2-1 loss to France on Wednesday night, and his representative has revealed that the 20-year-old was pleased to open his account for Cesare Prandelli's side.

“Stephan and I were together after the game,” Roberto Lo Florio told Radio Crc. “He was really delighted to score, but disappointed with the result.

“Italy didn't deserve to lose – they suffered a lot of bad luck, but the important thing for Stephan now is to get back and play well for Milan.

“He's made the most of his opportunities this season, but we need to keep our feet firmly on the ground.

“Unfortunately, Milan are going through a difficult time at the moment, having sold all their senior players – it's going to be a year of reconstruction and transition.”

El Shaarawy has been in exceptional form this season for the misfiring Rossoneri, scoring eight goals in Serie A, and attracting the interest of some of the biggest clubs in European football.
