Stephan El Shaarawy is out of contract next month and could renew with Roma or potentially make a return to Milan.

The Little Pharaoh has shown a tendency to swing back to his former clubs throughout his career, as after leaving Roma in 2019 for Shanghai Shenhua, he made his comeback at the Stadio Olimpico as a free agent in January 2021.

It has been a positive season for him, scoring eight goals and providing two assists in all competition, despite rarely being in the starting XI.

His contract only runs to June 30 and an extension is by no means automatic, even if he is ready to lower his €3.5m per season salary.

According to Pagine Romaniste, there is interest from Milan for a possible return to San Siro as a free agent.

Able to play on the left or in a more central supporting role in attack, El Shaarawy can cover for Rafael Leao or Brahim Diaz.

He will turn 31 in October and first joined Milan from Genoa in 2011, leaving in 2015 for Monaco and then switching to Roma in January 2016.
