Roma winger Stephan El Shaarawy and Liverpool striker Darwin Núñez are among the UEFA candidates for Europa League Player of the Week.
El Shaarawy, Darwin Núñez, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (Olympique Marseille) and Juninho (Qarabag) have been selected by UEFA as the Europa League Player of the Week candidates after the first-leg ties on Thursday.
Italy international El Shaarawy didn’t score but provided assists for Gianluca Mancini and Bryan Cristante in Roma’s 4-0 win over Brighton at the Stadio Olimpico.
Nunez scored twice in Liverpool’s 5-1 victory over Sparta Praha and the same is true of ex-Milan and Arsenal striker Aubameyang, who netted twice in Marseille’s 4-0 home win against Villarreal.
Qarabag shocked Xabi Alonso’s Liverpool, taking a two-goal lead at halftime, with the second goal scored by Brazilian forward Juninho.
However, the Bundesliga leaders bounced back in the second half and eventually secured a 2-2 draw thanks to goals from Florian Wirtz and ex-Roma and Sampdoria striker Patik Schick.
Four impressive displays 🥵
