Atalanta‘s record signing, El Bilal Touré, has suffered a severe tendon injury and could be forced to undergo surgery, remaining out of action for several months.

Touré suffered an injury during last week’s friendly against Juventus and the latest medical examinations undergone by the 21-year-old have highlighted a rupture of the right femoral rectus tendon insertion.

According to Sky Sport Italia, Atalanta’s doctors are deciding on the next steps and could decide to go for surgery.

The former Almeria striker is expected to remain out of action for several months, meaning that Atalanta could block the sale of Luis Muriel and Duvan Zapata, with the latter who had been linked with a move to Roma.

Touré had joined Atalanta for circa €31m in July, becoming the most expensive signing in the history of the club.
