Eintracht Frankfurt are thoroughly unimpressed with what they’ve seen of Luca Pellegrini, but that doesn’t necessarily mean he’ll interrupt the loan from Juventus early.

The 23-year-old left-back is a product of the Roma youth system and was sold to Juventus in 2019 for €22m, failing to make an impact with loan experiences at Cagliari and Genoa.

So far this season, Pellegrini has made 14 appearances in all competition for Eintracht Frankfurt, but the words of director of sport Markus Krosche suggest this hasn’t gone well either.

“Luca had some difficulties after a decent start and then other problems tied to an injury,” Krosche told Sport1.

“You can tell he wants to do well, has decent pace and the right attitude in physical duels, but he hasn’t found the right tempo yet.

“He has to work on himself and do the things he was taught during training. It’s up to him to decide how his experience at Eintracht will end.”

According to Goal.com, neither Pellegrini’s agents nor Eintracht Frankfurt have made any steps to interrupt the season-long loan early.

He is therefore expected to remain until the end of this term, but it’s another setback in the career of a player with such promise who is yet to deliver.

The left-back received one senior cap for Italy in November 2020 and has rarely had a consistent run of form in any one team.

If he does leave, then Maurizio Sarri is interested in signing Pellegrini for Lazio.
