The Interior Ministry in Italy has decided that Napoli will not be permitted to sell any tickets to Eintracht Frankfurt supporters for the Champions League return game in Naples.

The decision comes following the violent altercations between supporters after the first leg of the Round of 16 tie at the Deutsche Bank Park.

According to German outlet Bild, nine Eintracht supporters were arrested in Germany after physical attacks on a number of Partenopei supporters at a bar on Schweizer Strasse in the city centre before the first leg in Germany two weeks ago.

Three Napoli fans were reported to have sustained minor injuries as a result of the attacks.

A statement from the Adler’s club website read: “Eintracht was informed yesterday evening by UEFA that the Italian Interior Ministry will issue an injunction this morning to Napoli forbidding the club to sell tickets to Eintracht fans for the event on Wednesday 15.

“This includes the official travelling contingent of a total of 2,700 tickets, of which 2,400 were in the away sector. As soon as the concrete content of the order becomes available, Eintracht will comment on the developments in more detail.”

There were also concerns from local authorities following violent clashes between supporters of Napoli and Ajax when the dutch side visited the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona in October.

Napoli are yet to release an official statement on the matter.
