Daniele De Rossi is expecting a revolutionary summer transfer window at Roma and has identified eight players who’ll form the foundation of his new squad.

The Giallorossi started incredibly brightly under their former midfielder back in January, winning six of their first seven games following his arrival, but this began to tail off in the business end of the season, which ultimately saw the club miss out on a Champions League spot.

De Rossi will soon pen a new long-term contract with Roma, ready to start an exciting project in the Italian capital, and he’s already made it clear that some changes are needed in the summer to help close the gap to the teams at the top.

Roma revolution

Page 17 of today’s Corriere dello Sport details how De Rossi has identified eight Roma players he believes will form an important foundation of his new project – Mile Svilar, Gianluca Mancini, Evan Ndicka, Bryan Cristante, Leandro Paredes, Lorenzo Pellegrini, Stephan El Shaarawy and Tommaso Baldanzi.

The rest of the squad is considered expendable ahead of the summer transfer window, with players like Leonardo Spinazzola, Rui Patricio, Chris Smalling, Rick Karsdorp, Eldor Shomurodov, Andrea Belotti and Marash Kumbulla all possibly on the way out.

Others, like Nicola Zalewski, Tammy Abraham and Houssem Aouar could still earn themselves a spot in the new Roma project.
