Eusebio Di Francesco still has regrets over Roma’s Champions League semi-final with Liverpool last season, adding he ‘wasn’t good at managing certain situations.’

The Giallorossi fell 5-0 behind in the first leg at Anfield before two late goals gave them slim hopes of staging an incredible comeback.

And despite trailing 1-0 and 2-1 in the return at the Stadio Olimpico, Di Francesco’s players recovered once more.

They ran out 4-2 winners on the night, falling just one goal short of taking the tie to extra-time.

Speaking on the club’s pre-season tour of the United States, the Roma boss admitted he made mistakes which were fatal to his side's chances of reaching the final in Kiev.

“It was a match decided by a lot of situations,” Di Francesco told reporters.

“It was very motivational and I, as Coach, wasn’t good at managing certain situations.

“This ended the dream of the fans and the players to get to the final.

“However, everyone gave their best. The people appreciated the desire to try to overturn the result until the end.

“There is also come regret for the end of the return leg, when Liverpool were in disarray.”

Roma complete their United States tour with a match against European champions Real Madrid tomorrow night.
