“The team is in fairly good shape, even if so little time has passed from the Red Star game,” said the Coach.

On Thursday evening Domenico Berardi, Matteo Politano and Gregoire Defrel sealed a spectacular 3-0 victory in the first leg of the Europa League play-off.

The second leg is in Belgrade next Thursday, so Di Francesco must inevitably make changes to rest tired legs.

“Some of them we are forced into, as Alfred Duncan is suspended. Palermo have young and interesting players who really want to make their mark.

“The Stadio Barbera is a very passionate atmosphere and the first round of the Serie A season always holds dangers. This is going to be a tough match.”

Di Francesco also warned the Neroverdi aren’t done yet on the transfer market.

“I have plenty of centre-forward choices, but we will certainly bring in some more wide players.”

Alessandro Matri arrived from Milan this week and he could be given his debut.

Sassuolo squad for Palermo: Pomini, Consigli, Pegolo; Antei, Peluso, Acerbi, Lirola, Gazzola, Cannavaro, Letschert, Adjapong; Magnanelli, Biondini, Sensi, Mazzitelli, Sbrissa; Falcinelli, Matri, Defrel, Politano, Berardi, Trotta
