Eusebio Di Francesco believes his Sassuolo players deserved their 1-0 win over Udinese on Sunday.

Gregoire Defrel’s first half goal was enough to give the Neroverdi victory against the Bianconeri, taking them to nine points from six Serie A matches played so far this season.

“For 80 minutes Udinese didn’t get a chance on goal,” Di Francesco claimed in his post-match interview. “At the end, we suffered from their physicality from set pieces and our standards dropped.

“In my opinion, in the first half the team was great, we didn’t give them anything. We deserved the win.”

The Stadio Tricolore boss also praised the excellent physical condition of his team, reflected by the intensity of their pressing.

“We are one of the teams who run the most. We always manage to keep ourselves in good physical shape.

“Recovery is more important than work now.”
