Eusebio Di Francesco concedes Cagliari’s 1-1 draw away to Sassuolo was ‘the right result’ and is eager for Radja Nainggolan to return from Inter.
The Sardinians had taken the lead against the run of play through Giovanni Simeone, but a late Medhi Bourabia free kick snatched the point.
“The result is fair, although we had the chances to double our lead too and could’ve controlled the situation better,” the coach told Sky Sport Italia.

“The result is fair, although we had the chances to double our lead too and could’ve controlled the situation better,” the coach told Sky Sport Italia.
“There are some regrets, but considering the overall match, it was the right result.”
It was a special debut for Di Francesco at the Mapei Stadium, where he first made his name at Sassuolo.
“I met up with many old friends, it was ultimately a point that everyone can be content with. We’re trying to improve in terms of technique and character, were a little stand-offish at the start with our pressing, allowing their passing players more time and space on the ball.
“Once we improved in the second half, we had the chances to win the game too.”
Cagliari aren’t finished with their transfer campaign yet, as Diego Godin will arrive from Inter and he might not be the only San Siro arrival.
“The club told me that Godin is close. We hope to also bring Nainggolan, to help these younger players to mature with the aid of his experience.”
