“Samp are going through a rough time? So are we after this latest defeat,” said the Coach after their midweek 1-0 Coppa Italia exit to Serie B side Cagliari.
“We must get back on track straight away and will be fired up at Marassi. I would’ve preferred not to have this wake-up call, frankly. We accept it and this will be a lesson going forward.
“We made it easier for Cagliari and I didn’t like the attitude. We lacked the right determination and I would’ve needed seven substitutions to change that on the day.
“I therefore expect a great performance from my team and am convinced we’ll have the right level of concentration.”
Since taking over at Samp, Di Francesco’s former Roma teammate Montella has lost both games.
“I am happy to see him again. Regardless of the change of Coach, Sampdoria are a different team on home turf and we’ll see that in this game.”
Francesco Magnanelli and Emanuele Terranova are sidelined with Domenico Berardi continuing his three-match ban.
