EDF: ‘Cagliari need help’

Eusebio Di Francesco says Cagliari must work on their mentality and urges the club to sign new players in January.

The Sardinians lost 2-1 at home against Benevento and are without a win in the last nine Serie A games.

“We had a good start and in our best moment they scored twice. We tried to react pressing higher, but it didn’t work. We must remain focused,” Di Francesco told Sky Sport after the game.

The Sardinians lost 2-1 at home against Benevento and are without a win in the last nine Serie A games.

“We had a good start and in our best moment they scored twice. We tried to react pressing higher, but it didn’t work. We must remain focused,” Di Francesco told Sky Sport after the game.

“Players are wrong when they try to win games on their own. We are panicking as soon as we face difficult times during a game and we must work on it,” he added.

“The second goal makes me angry, we were naïve and Benevento were smart in the final minutes.”

Naithan Nandez was sent off in the second half after ironically applauding the referee, while Nainggolan started the game and played 80 minutes.

“I am sorry, I don’t know what happened [with Nandez],” said Di Francesco.

“It surely didn’t help, we need to gain self-esteem.

“Everyone must do more, we were without [Diego] Godin too.”

Di Francesco expects new signings in January.

“We need help, I’ve spoken with the club. We are short of options in midfield, Nainggolan did well in the first half.”
