Cagliari coach Eusebio Di Franchesco felt the Rossoblu ‘lost two points’ as Sassuolo scored a last-gasp equaliser in the 1-1 draw on Sunday.

The Casteddu broke the deadlock against the run of play and seemed set to end their winless run in Serie A, but Jeremie Boga appeared at the far post to equalise four minutes into stoppages.

“It’s not easy to analyse a match like this,” Di Francesco said. “After a performance that was interpreted right and with determination.

“The great compactness we demonstrated in the game is excellent, we created opportunities. We lacked a bit of malice and weren’t cunning in the final third. It’s a real shame because I was looking forward to three fundamental points.

“Today, they are two points lost.”

But the coach felt Cagliari showed character in their display against Roberto De Zerbi’s men.

“When you come from a difficult moment, the mental aspect often makes the difference. They had more confidence, less pressure.

“We are working on other situations, I have seen interesting things even in the moments of suffering.”
