“It’s wonderful to celebrate qualification. We knew how important this game was and the Coach made sure we worked well all week on the 4-2-4 system,” said Sampdoria striker Eder.

He opened the scoring in Baku, followed by Stephan El Shaarawy and Matteo Darmian.
“We played very well and we’re happy. It is great to secure a place at Euro 2016 with a round to spare.
“We tested out various different systems during the qualifying campaign, but that’s normal. We played well today and are also in better physical shape than in recent games.
“This Italy is all about the group, made up of excellent players and good guys. We are united and that unity is our strength.”
