Eder: ‘Samp made a promise’

Sampdoria rejected Inter’s bid for Eder this summer, but he asks for a new contract. “Massimo Ferrero knows what he has to do.”

The striker was a firm transfer target for the Nerazzurri and they tried right to the last day of trading, eventually going for Roma’s Adem Ljajic instead.

“I am happy at Sampdoria, but Ferrero knows what he has to do,” the 28-year-old told Secolo XIX newspaper.

“I am happy at Sampdoria, but Ferrero knows what he has to do,” the 28-year-old told Secolo XIX newspaper.

“I had spoken to the club in June and said I was ready for any option. Now I am happy to have stayed, but we do have an agreement that has to be respected.”

The Brazilian-Italian currently has a contract until June 2017 that pays a measly €650,000 per season.

He actually took a pay cut in 2013 to stay at Samp, while Inter were offering wages at €1.6m per year.

Eder has scored four goals in two Serie A games, but last season netted nine in 31 competitive matches.
