Atletico Madrid reportedly did come in with an offer for Jose Callejon this summer, but Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis turned it down.

Los Colchoneros were linked with interest in the former Real Madrid winger towards the beginning of the summer transfer window, before turning their attention elsewhere and eventually signing Alessio Cerci, among others.

However, the Gazzetta dello Sport report today that speculation around Callejon was based on genuine interest and that Atleti did come in with an offer of €22m.
