“My decision to return to Italy was personal and I want to thank Saputo, who understood it.
“I got on well in Canada and had six splendid months there. It’s a different type of football to the Italian one, even if it’s a lot of fun.
“Bologna had an important first round to the season, the club are growing and this is a very positive thing.
“When I go out on to the pitch, I’ll give everything and try to help the team and our young players.
“The club shouldn’t expect nine or 10 goals from me, but I’ll definitely give it my best shot. I’ve been out of action for a month, but I’ll be 100 percent very soon.”
