Edin Dzeko reveals he is taking the entire Inter squad out to dinner in order to celebrate his 100th Serie A goal and the victory over Sassuolo.
The veteran was inevitably named Man of the Match after netting both goals around a temporary Davide Frattesi equaliser at the Mapei Stadium.
The first was his 100th in the Italian top flight, becoming the third-oldest player to achieve that feat.
“It could’ve been 103, but unfortunately I had my last two goals ruled offside,” Dzeko smiled on DAZN.
“I remember my first Serie A goal for Roma against Juventus, right up to today. The most important thing is that it crosses the line. I will certainly invite the whole team to dinner, because you don’t get your 100th goal every day.
“When the ball crosses the line, you are the happiest man in the world, so today I ama happy man and want to keep giving my contribution to the team.”
Inter do seem to have turned a corner over the last few days by beating Barcelona in the Champions League and getting back on track in Serie A against Sassuolo.
“We probably would’ve lost a game like this three or four weeks ago. It wasn’t our best performance, largely thanks to Sassuolo, but it wasn’t easy after so many setbacks in Serie A. We wanted to give a sense of consistency after Barcelona.
“Before the game, we told each other that we shouldn’t be ashamed to sit back and wait every now and then. Too often we would try to press high and get caught on the counter, but we suffered together and I think the victory was deserved.”
