Edin Dzeko has less than a year left on his current deal with Inter and a stay in Lombardy seems unlikely as foreign clubs raise interest.

The 36-year-old Bosnian veteran has proven to be a reliable backup option with the Nerazzurri following his arrival last summer, being a point of reference in the squad for some of the younger players. This season, Dzeko has featured fairly prominently due to the injury suffered by Romelu Lukaku and he scored in the tough 3-2 loss to Milan earlier in the month.

As highlighted by FcInterNews, Inter will discuss a possible new contract with Dzeko after the World Cup in Qatar but it’s unlikely that an agreement will be found, with the club still working to reduce their wage bill.

The 36-year-old has already started receiving some approaches from foreign clubs, namely from the MLS and Saudi Arabia, but he’d prefer to stay in Europe for at least another year before making the jump.
