Edin Dzeko assures his Champions League brace to beat Shakhtar Donetsk is ‘what Inter signed me for’, taking his European tally to 50.
The Bosnian hitman was on target twice to finally break down the Ukrainians at San Siro, a 2-0 result putting them on the verge of a place in the Round of 16.

“This is what Inter signed me for and I am trying to give my contribution,” Dzeko told Sky Sport Italia.
“We made a lot of mistakes in the first half and their goalkeeper did really well too. You need patience at this level, we kept a clean sheet and scored twice in the second half. Hopefully, this will be sufficient.”
As long as Real Madrid don’t lose to Sheriff this evening, Inter will be in the knockouts.
This was Dzeko’s 50th goal in UEFA competitions and he was named Man of the Match.
“These are three fundamental points and now we are close to our objective. The first half it seemed as if the goal was cursed, the ball just didn’t want to go in, we had two goals disallowed… Fortunately we got there in the end.
“The coach told us at half-time to just continue like this.”
