Edin Dzeko resumed training with Roma today, as fans begged him not to leave for Inter, as the transfer could depend on Chelsea’s Tammy Abraham and Arsenal.

The striker had a brief vacation in Croatia after the pre-season training camp in Portugal and arrived at the Trigoria camp today.

Video showed fans shouting at him as he got out of his car: “Edin, sign a new contract with Roma! Don’t go to Inter! I’ll come and get you at the airport and drag you back here!”

Dzeko is widely believed to have a deal with Inter, with Roma allowing him to leave for under €2m as one of the replacements for Romelu Lukaku.

However, the Giallorossi will only release the Bosnian when they have secured a replacement for him in their squad.

This is taking longer than expected, because Sky Sport Italia, the Corriere dello Sport and others all report Chelsea are ready to send Abraham to the Olimpico on loan with option to buy for circa €40m.

However, as Sportitalia already made clear yesterday, Abraham is thoroughly unconvinced by the idea of leaving England or his hometown London, preferring a proposal from Arsenal instead.

Even the presence of former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho on the Roma bench is seemingly not enough to talk Abraham into accepting the transfer.

He is also asking for €5m per season wages, whereas the offer so far is €4m.

Until the Giallorossi have found a suitable replacement, they will keep hold of Dzeko, which in turn delays the Inter process of life after Lukaku.
