Edin Dzeko jokes about his age and contract, but also points out he brings ‘more than goals’ to Inter after netting in the Champions League semi-final against Milan.
The Nerazzurri had the perfect start to the European Derby della Madonnina, as Dzeko and Henrikh Mkhitaryan had opened up a 2-0 lead in the opening 11 minutes.
He keeps scoring in these clutch games and the reporters keep asking jokingly how old he is.
“How many did I say last time? Yeah, still 37, but I feel good,” the Bosnian told Amazon Prime Italia.
“I felt fresher today, perhaps because I rested three days ago. Not just me, but the whole team was fired up, because it’s not every year you play a Champions League semi-final. We were concentrated from the first minute to the last and in the end we were rewarded for that.”
The former Roma centre-forward was also eager to point out his importance to Inter goes beyond simply finding the back of the net, which is probably why he was preferred to Romelu Lukaku in the starting XI this evening.
“Sometimes the goals don’t arrive and people only talk about that, but I bring more than goals to the team. I work hard for my teammates and I scored the goal, but also did important work for the team throughout the match.”
Dzeko was asked when he will sign a new contract with Inter, as his current deal is due to expire in June?
“I don’t know, you’d have to ask the club,” he winked.
