The Bosnia international, who has been given the number nine shirt, officially signed for the Giallorossi from Manchester City yesterday.

He praised his friend and compatriot Miralem Pjanic for helping convince him to make the move, and targets an improvement on last season’s second-place finish.

“AS Roma have a big project for the future with some fantastic players, I'm happy to be here and to help reach those targets,” he said at his presentation Press conference.

“So far everything is going well. I've been following Roma since my friend Miralem Pjanic came here. It's a top club.

"I have a great relationship with Pjanic. He and Sabatini told me lots of good things about the club, city and fans.

“The main reason I joined Roma is to try and help the club achieve all its big targets on the pitch.

"I watched Roma a lot last year and played against them in the Champions League. They achieved a good second place.

"I think the team is even stronger this year than last. My team-mates and I will do everything we can to improve on last season.”
