“It gives us a little joy at least, but we knew this has not been one of our best seasons. The derby is always the derby, and especially after losing the first one, we wanted to give our all today to end the season with something positive,” Dzeko told DAZN.

“I don’t like to look backwards too much, as there will always be regret. We saw this as a derby, an important match and finally we played as a real team. We suffered under pressure and deserved the victory.

“The coach said before the game it would be his last at home, so if we could also win it for him. We won it for him, for us, for the fans and the club that is always looking forward with positivity. We worked really hard and will at least have a joyful week.”

The club is looking forward by hiring Jose Mourinho, so what could he bring in terms of enthusiasm, prestige and results?

“He has already brought so much in terms of enthusiasm. Roma is a difficult club to work at, so they couldn’t have hired anyone better.”
