Dybala’s contract talks postponed, what does it mean for the player and Juventus?

Paulo Dybala’s representatives were reportedly surprised to find out that Juventus had postponed a meeting to discuss the striker’s contract extension and Sky Sport Italia looks to what this means for the player and the Bianconeri.

Dybala’s contract saga knows no end, given that the club has now postponed a meeting that should have taken place tomorrow. According to Sky Sport correspondent in Turin Paolo Aghemo, the player’s entourage was surprised to find out the club’s decision. The two parties should meet again before the end of the month.

Waiting to know what’s behind Juventus’ move, transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio tried to analyse the situation at Continassa.

More doubts emerge over Dybala’s future as meeting with Juventus postponed

On the one hand, Juventus could have postponed the meeting because of the pressure coming from fans and media. Juventus’ opened this morning’s training to journalists and supporters and many fans shouted to Dybala to sign a new deal with the club. La Joya trained separately from the rest of the team and hopes to be available for next week’s Champions League tie with Villarreal.

At the same time, Juventus could be taking more time before deciding how much money they can offer to Dybala and the other five players with an expiring contract: Juan Cuadrado, Federico Bernardeschi, Mattia De Sciglio, Carlo Pinsoglio and Mattia Perin. According to multiple reports, they will all be offered a pay cut to stay in Turin.

However, Juventus must be aware that Dybala is already free to sign a pre-contract agreement with any club ahead of a free transfer at the end of the season. The Argentinean’s priority is to stay in Turin and the player has been waiting for the Old Lady until now, but this new postponement could persuade him to listen to other offers.
