Paulo Dybala reportedly turned down an offer from Al Qadsiah to activate his release clause and the option has now expired, so Roma have full control of his sale.
The former Juventus and Palermo star has a release clause in his contract that has several important variables attached to it.
The option is only valid for specific periods, January 1-15 and July 1-31 at €12m for clubs outside of Italy, whereas it climbs to €20m for Serie A sides.
According to Sky Sport Italia, Al Qadsiah tried to activate that release clause at €12m and sent him a very lucrative proposal with a huge salary to play in the Saudi Pro League.
After taking the time to evaluate it with his entourage, the Argentina international replied in the negative and assured Roma he wants to remain at the Stadio Olimpico.
Dybala committed to Roma
Now that the release clause has expired, anyone wanting to buy him must negotiate directly with Roma first.
His contract is set to expire in June 2025, so it is likely that a new deal will be negotiated over the next few months.
Dybala joined Roma as a free agent in the summer of 2022 when his contract with Juventus was allowed to run down.
Last season he made 39 competitive appearances for the club, amassing 16 goals and 10 assists.
