Roma legend Giuseppe Giannini feels Paulo Dybala is the most talented Roma player ever after Francesco Totti.
The former Italian midfielder, scorer of 75 goals in 437 Roma games between 1981 and 1996, spoke about the Argentinean striker in an interview with Il Messaggero newspaper.
La Joya scored a hat-trick in Roma’s 3-2 win over Torino on Monday and is arguably the most decisive Giallorossi player this season.
Dybala compared to Totti after hat-trick but ‘Roma can’t thank’ Mourinho enough
Asked whether Dybala is the most talented Roma player after legendary captain Totti, Giannini replied: “Yes, in terms of quality and creativity, he is among the best, if not the best after Francesco.”
Dybala joined Roma on a free transfer from Juventus in 2022 and has scored 30 goals in 63 games with the Giallorossi.
His contract at the Stadio Olimpico runs out in June 2025, and Roma directors haven’t yet sat down with the striker’s entourage to discuss his future at the club.
“Without Dybala, you can see that Roma struggle to be dangerous close to the opponents’ box,” continued Giannini, an ex-Roma captain.
In terms of pure class “only Modric can be considered on the same level,” concluded the ex-Roma star. “There aren’t many, just one or two maximum.”
Dybala has netted 12 goals in 24 appearances across all competitions with Roma in 2023-24.
