Paulo Dybala implies he wants to continue his career at Roma after the Europa League defeat to Sevilla. ‘Playing for this team is not just sport or work, but an HONOUR.’

The Argentina international joined as a free agent last summer and helped them reach the Europa League Final in Budapest, where he scored the opening goal.

Gianluca Mancini’s own goal allowed Sevilla to equalise and the Spaniards then emerged victorious in a penalty shoot-out.

Dybala was visibly distraught after the game, having only been fit to play for 67 minutes due to an ankle sprain.

“Proud of US and Proud of YOU, all the fans who followed us to Budapest and those who supported from home or at the Olimpico, regardless of the result, we gave our all!” wrote Dybala on his Instagram page.

“Playing for this team is not just sport or work, but an HONOUR. We celebrated together during this journey and cried too, tears of suffering that prove how much we’ve given for these people. Forza Roma always.”

Winning the Europa League was their only remaining option for qualifying for the Champions League next season, so now they must battle to lock down the Europa League place in Serie A or slip back into the Conference League.

Dybala signed the contract with Roma to June 2025, but there is a release clause that could allow him to walk away for a relatively small fee.

La Joya contributed 17 goals and eight assists in 37 competitive matches this season.
