Roma fans are beyond delighted that Paulo Dybala will stay at the Stadio Olimpico, and Sky Sport highlights that only the Argentinean and José Mourinho ‘partially filled the void’ left by Francesco Totti in the capital.

Dybala has decided to stay at Roma and the Giallorossi fans couldn’t be happier. Some even thanked the Argentinean at his home on Thursday after he confirmed he would not join Al Qadsiah despite a €25m-a-year offer.

“There’s great energy here today. We can only see people with smiles on their faces,” said Sky Sport’s Roma correspondent Paolo Assogna on Friday morning.

“Dybala’s decision has given the whole environment a massive boost. First of all, technically. Dybala is undoubtedly the best player in the team. But there’s also a sociological aspect. We know that Roma fans identified themselves with Francesco Totti for 25 years, a man who could even replace victories.

“First, Mourinho and then Dybala partially filled that void, and this feeling will be reinforced on Sunday night. You’ll see the fans’ affection for the Argentinean against Empoli.”

Dybala sent an Instagram message to Roma fans on Thursday night, telling them, “See you on Sunday.”

La Joya has also earned comparisons with Totti, who snubbed a move to Real Madrid in 2002.
