The Italian media were impressed with Paulo Dybala’s debut in Roma’s comfortable 1-0 win over Salernitana yesterday.

The 28-year-old Argentinian forward made his competitive debut for the Giallorossi following his arrival on a free transfer last month, playing 89 minutes in the victory over the Campania side. Despite not finding the back of the net, Dybala still had a positive outing, giving his new fans a taste of things to come.

La Gazzetta dello Sport underlined Dybala’s positive debut in their ratings, paying attention to his imaginative play and slick contributions to the action, saying “delicious touches, a few balls to be imagined with thought and a post that could have ended the contest. He dropped off in the distance when he played centre forward.”

Corriere dello Sport seemed equally impressed with the Argentinian forward’s contributions in his debut, highlighting both his creative output, “in his touch of the ball, in his choices, he is already master of the scene. In front of goal, however, he is not sharp, including the post. He ended the game as a tactical centre forward, exhausted.”

Jose Mourinho will likely be satisfied with the performance shown during the 1-0 win and he reportedly rewarded the squad and staff with a tasty post-match dinner to celebrate the victory, picking up 60 pizzas.

Dybala’s ratings in the Italian newspapers:

La Gazzetta dello Sport: 6

Corriere dello Sport: 6

Tuttosport: 6

Corriere della Sera: 6

  1. as a Roma fan , It should of been 6-0. Zaniolo & Dybala missed a few chances. Player of the game for me was Karsdorp. Forza Roma Sempre!
