Roma have another injury scare after Paulo Dybala limped off in tears during the Serie A trip to Cagliari.

La Joya had been rested for Thursday’s 4-0 Europa League victory over Servette at the Stadio Olimpico and returned to the starting XI at the Unipol Domus in Sardinia.

The Argentina international was on the end of a heavy challenge from Matteo Prati and a few minutes later crumpled to the ground holding his left knee.

He seemed to be in tears as he underwent treatment, but was able to limp off without help from the medical staff or a stretcher, where he was replaced by Andrea Belotti.

According to the initial reports from DAZN, the medical staff is ‘cautiously optimistic’ that it was nothing more than a heavy bruise to the knee.

It is the latest in a long line of injuries for the Giallorossi and the most recent was on Thursday, when Lorenzo Pellegrini pulled up with a muscular strain against Servette.

There are reports Pellegrini will be out of action for circa a month.

Already on the treatment table are Chris Smalling, Renato Sanches, Diego Llorente, Marash Kumbulla and Tammy Abraham.
