Dybala demands Juventus ‘humility’

Paulo Dybala insists he and his teammates must ‘remember we are Juventus and we must respect this shirt’ after a 2-1 defeat to Hellas Verona.

The Bianconeri suffered a second consecutive 2-1 loss to a mid-table side, after the midweek round against Sassuolo, as Cholito Simeone bagged a brace in the opening 14 minutes.

Weston McKennie’s strike into the roof of the net was not enough to turn it around.

“Verona scored two goals very early, but it’s also true that they were sharper than us, winning many tackles and duels,” Dybala told JTV.

“At that point, we tried to score in any way we could, but we cannot afford to just gift the opposition a half of football.

“We must remember we are Juventus and we must respect this shirt, its history and the great champions who wore it in the past.”

The Old Lady have just one point from the last three rounds, leaving them on 15 points from 11 games, so they could conclude the weekend already 16 points off the leaders.

Dybala was asked how Juve can possibly drag themselves out of this situation?

“We do it together. Each of us, before going to sleep tonight, must think about this game and how we can all give something more. We’ve got to learn the lesson, be humble and immediately focus on Tuesday in the Champions League.

“Those who play at Juve cannot be afraid.”
