The Duvan Zapata saga is taking another twist with reports that after Atalanta and Roma agreed to a transfer, the Colombia international suddenly put on the brakes.

The situation has been dragging on for weeks, with the Giallorossi having missed out on numerous other targets to strengthen their attack over the summer.

It had seemed today as if there was finally a solution, as the two clubs agreed to the transfer for €6m plus circa €3.5m in performance-related bonuses.

The player also looked ready to sign the three-year contract with wages at €2.7m per season plus bonuses.

However, Calciomercato.com claim the planned medical is going to be delayed because Duvan Zapata is getting cold feet about the move.

It is largely down to coach Gian Piero Gasperini, who still feels Duvan Zapata has much to give for Atalanta, especially after new signing El Bilal Toure sustained a serious tendon injury that will keep him out for several months.
