“We are disappointed, because we wanted to get through to the next round,” Duvan Zapata told Mediaset.
He was initially on the bench, but came on at half-time for Mario Pasalic.
“In the first half, we were unable to develop our game the way we usually do. It went a little better after the break, but unfortunately it was not enough.
“Now we have to focus on Serie A and the Coppa Italia Final. Our season does not end here.”
Atalanta will face Juventus in the Coppa Italia Final in May and are seeking a top four Serie A finish for the third year running.
