Reports were that they were struck by a wayward kitesurfer, but the Royal Dutch Football Association [KNVB] report that they only suffered minor injuries.
“There is no reason for concern,” a statement from the KNVB has read. “It’s nothing serious, just light scratches and headaches.”
Feyenoord defender Janmaat has been strongly linked with a move to Serie A this summer, with Juve and Napoli thought to be in continuing talks, whilst Premier League Arsenal and Tottenham are also listed as interested parties.
The 24-year-old briefly commented on the episode too: “The surfer passed within two fingers of my head. Fortunately, there was just more fear than damage.”
