Dumfries leaving already in January?

Denzel Dumfries has struggled to convince at Inter, who could reportedly look for a new full-back on the transfer market already in January.

The former PSV Eindhoven defender arrived at San Siro as the outright replacement for Achraf Hakimi, who joined Paris Saint-Germain.

But the Dutch full-back has struggled to convince in his first moths at the Nerazzurri and La Gazzetta dello Sport reports he has to step up to earn a long-term future with the Italian giants.

The newspaper claims Dumfries has been asked to show his worth in the coming weeks and adapt to Simone Inzaghi’s system at Inter.

The Nerazzurri want to protect their investment of €12.5m but are still keeping an eye on the transfer market for a possible replacement in January.

And the report believes Inter will return to Cagliari to ask about Nahitan Nandez, who was linked with a move to the fashion capital over the summer.

The Uruguayan could be ready to change team this winter and under the right conditions, he could be the ideal reinforcement for the Nerazzurri.

Napoli are also interested in the former Boca Juniors star and Inter could have to fight for his signature, meaning Cagliari will not let him go with a discount.

Inter have six games before the winter break, including a trip to Real Madrid playing for the top spot in the Champions League group.

The next few weeks could be decisive for Dumfries, who has played 15 times across all competitions. But the 25-year-old has only started three times in the Italian league.
