Inter are confident that a new contract can be agreed with Denzel Dumfries soon, believing Euro 2024 changed little for the wing-back.

The 28-year-old has just a year left on his contract with the Nerazzurri, who have no intention of losing him on a free transfer next summer. Should no agreement be reached in the coming weeks, the club would quickly look for buyers.

Inter drew up a new three-year deal for Dumfries, increasing his salary from €2.5m to €4m per season, but his entourage rejected the offer, wanting at least €5m in wages. The Nerazzurri refused to offer things and things stalled.

Page 13 of today’s Corriere dello Sport details how Inter are now confident that they can find an agreement with Dumfries, who has attracted little serious attention in the transfer market, unable to truly shine at Euro 2024 with the Netherlands.

The Nerazzurri are planning to meet with his entourage in the coming weeks to try and set up a new deal, hoping to keep coach Simone Inzaghi happy by retaining the experienced wing-back.
