Robin Gosens has shined in his first start for Union Berlin following his move from Inter, scoring twice in the first half of their clash with Darmstadt.

The 29-year-old German full back joined the Bundesliga side earlier this month in a deal worth around €15m total, signing a five-year contract. The Nerazzurri replaced him with Monza’s Carlos Augusto.

Gosens failed to impress during his 18 months with Inter, managing just five goals and one assist across 58 appearances as he struggled with injuries and poor form, failing to replicate the work he produced with Atalanta.

Gosens made his Union Berlin debut in their 4-1 win over Mainz last week but was limited to just 24 minutes. Today, he was handed his first start for the club in their Bundesliga clash with Darmstadt and he didn’t disappoint, opening his account in the fourth minute before picking up his brace in the 34th.
