Genoa defender Radu Dragusin confirms he loaned money to former Juventus teammate Nicolò Fagioli, but insists he had no idea it was to cover gambling debts.

Fagioli gave a lengthy deposition to both the FIGC prosecutor and the Turin public prosecutor, in which he reportedly explained that his debts reached €3m.

In order to cover those losses, he borrowed money from then-Juventus teammates Dragusin and Federico Gatti, but told them the money was to purchase luxury Rolex watches.

“Radu is not guilty of anything,” agent Florin Manea told Sportitalia.

“Fagioli even asked the shop where he got the watch to give him a receipt. Radu did not know what the watch was really got and Fagioli only asked him for a loan once.

“Radu was kept in the dark about everything and is very sad to hear of Fagioli’s problems, but he is not involved.”

Agent Manea also revealed that Dragusin’s mother was ‘worried’ when the Genoa defender’s name was mentioned in the media.

Fagioli insists he kept his gambling addiction a secret from everyone except for his close family, who became aware that something was wrong in his behaviour.
