Tuttosport reported that Manchester United made an attempt to sign Douglas Luiz from Juventus in the closing hours of the winter transfer window, only to see their approach rejected by the Serie A giants, who eventually decided to retain the Brazilian after losing Nicolò Fagioli to Fiorentina.
The former Aston Villa midfielder has been repeatedly linked with a move back to the Premier League in January after difficulties in proving his worth at the club amid injuries and a lack of trust from coach Thiago Motta.

The 26-year-old was said to be on the radar of both Manchester City and Manchester United, with the former previously rumoured to have tried to persuade the Old Lady with multiple loan offers, all of which were turned down.
Juventus rejected last-minute Douglas Luiz bid from Manchester United
However, according to Tuttosport, the Red Devils remained keen on signing Douglas Luiz until the last day of the January transfer market, when they made a last-minute approach to Juventus, who were not open to further trimming their midfield department after dispatching Fagioli to Fiorentina.

The Bianconeri didn’t sign any players in the middle of the park as they prioritised strengthening their attack and defence to compensate for injuries and a lack of alternatives to Dusan Vlahovic.
