Juventus are trying to sign Federico Chiesa from Fiorentina but the Old Lady first needs to sell Douglas Costa, who is not open to leaving.

Several reports in Italy, including La Gazzetta dello Sport and Tuttosport, state Chiesa’s Juventus move has been put on hold by Douglas Costa’s reluctance to leave the club.

The Brazilian has been offered to Manchester United and Wolves but the Red Devils have failed to match Juventus’ €30m asking price, whereas a move to Wolves is not in Douglas Costa’s plans.

The 9-time straight Serie A champions need to sell at least one player to make space in their Champions League squad list that must be filled by October 6.

Juve and Fiorentina have already agreed the structure of the deal: it would be a paid loan for circa €10-12m with obligation to buy for a further €50m, with payment spread out over four annual instalments. Chiesa has also already agreed to join the Serie A giants.

Juventus are also trying to sell other players including Mattia De Sciglio and Sami Khedira. The German midfielder is negotiating an early termination his deal with Juve but the club’s €2.5m offer to rescind the player’s contract is not enough for the former Real Madrid star who demands the entire €6m wages of his final year of contract.

De Sciglio has been sounded out by Spanish clubs but there are no concrete offers for the former Milan man.

Daniele Rugani seems the closest to leave Turin as the Old Lady has reportedly agreed Rennes’ loan offer at a cost of €1.5m.
