Milan had shown an interest in Palermo-bound Napoli stopper Andrea Dossena, his agent has admitted.

The Italian international will join the Sicilian club this January even if the Diavolo had him on their transfer radar.

“He is liked by Milan,” Roberto La Florio told Radio Lombarda on Monday. “They followed him in June and also again recently.

“He could have done well for Milan, but they have enough squad options already in the position that he plays.

“Palermo? They have stepped up for him and we are close to a deal. He’ll move to the Rosanero just as soon as Napoli sign Pablo Armero from Udinese.”

Left wing-back Dossena, 31, has appeared in just seven League games for the Azzurri this season.
