According to multiple reports, Gigio Donnarumma has beaten Keylor Navas’ competition at PSG and will become the regular starter from 2022-23.

The Italy international joined PSG as a free agent from Milan last summer, signing a contract until 2026, but Mauricio Pochettino has rotated him and Keylor this season.

According to Gazzetta and L’Equipe, the situation will change from 2022-23, when Gigio will become the regular starter in Paris, while Keylor will be put on the market.

“The club will make choices. I have a great relationship with Keylor, we are two good guys, we understand the situation, but it was difficult for him too,” Donnarumma said in his latest interview with AFP this week.

“Let’s say we made it, with the help of the whole group and with the understanding between us.”

Donnarumma reflects on difficult debut season with PSG

Keylor Navas had complained about rotations a few weeks ago when he said that things should have changed ‘one way or another’ in the next campaign. PSG seem to have made their decisions and Gigio will become the regular starter in Paris in 2022-23, pushing the Costa Rica international out of the club.

Tonight, Donnarumma is expected to make his 24th appearance across all competitions in PSG’s Ligue 1 match against Montpellier. Navas has played 25 games this term. Donnarumma was named Player of The Tournament at UEFA Euro 2020 and won the  Yashin Trophy for the best performing goalkeeper in 2021.
