PSG and Italy star Gigio Donnarumma insists he is on good terms with Keylor Navas but admits there’s more pressure in Paris than in Milan.

The 22-year-old joined the Ligue 1 giants on a free transfer from the Rossoneri in the summer after being named Player Of The Tournament at UEFA Euro 2020. Donnarumma signed a contract until 2026 at the Parc des Princes.

However, Donnarumma is not a regular starter in Paris as coach Mauricio Pochettino often rotates him and Keylor Navas.

Donnarumma has played 11 games across all competitions so far, making his Champions League debut against Manchester City in September.

Keylor Navas has played 16 games: 11 in the Ligue 1 and three in the Champions League.

Tension at PSG | From Donnarumma, to Messi and Neymar: what’s going on

L’Equipe reported at the end of the December that there is tension inside the PSG dressing room because of the competition between the two goalkeepers, but Donnarumma has denied such claims.

“Competition is normal and Keylor is a friend of mine,” the Italy international said in an interview with France TV, as quoted by SportMediaset.

“Here in Paris, there is more pressure than at Milan, I am in a club that wants to win everything.

“This is just the beginning, my ambitions don’t change: win, win and win.”

Donnarumma made his Milan debut aged 16 in October 2015 and played 251 games in a Rossoneri shirt.

  1. More pressure than at Milan? He’s playing against farmers. If he considers PSG to have more pressure than Milan I’m concerned for his mental welfare.

  2. This is comical..
Talk about pressure.. the reality is a scudetto in Italy with Milan is worth 5 leagues in France with PSG where there’s practically no competition, despite their current average form.
What clearly stings for him is the fact that Milan is performing much better than last season and they’re still in play for the title, without him !

Donnarumma is a case study of what happens when young players are ignorant, immature and mislead, i.e. controlled, by their agents..
It pains me to say this as a Milan fan.. but that’s the truth.
Milan did right by him through and through.

  3. It’s true and there is no need for Milan fans to feel butthurt about it. PSG is owned by a petrostate and they have unlimited funds given that UEFA only holds non-petrostate clubs to FFP. Therefore they can “want to win everything”.

  4. more pressure because he needs to compete with Keylor there.. but that’s the same if let say he is at Milan now.. with Maignan at Milan now, he definitely would say the same.. because at the start of his career he only needs to compete with the downhill of Marco Amelia and later competing with his non-existant older brother at Milan.. maybe he felt the shock now, because of the competing environment he has never experienced before.
