Italy goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma pays tribute to former Milan academy player Seid Visin who killed himself after revealing racist abuses: ‘He was a friend of mine, I will never forget his smile.’

Visin was one year younger than the Italian goalkeeper. They had lived in Milan’s boarding school when they were playing in the Rossoneri youth sector. Visin had also played for Benevento before retiring from football.

He was found dead at his home on Friday and Il Corriere della Sera has published the suicide note he wrote before taking his life.

The former footballer wrote he had found a job as a waiter but had to quit it because of racist abuses by some customers.

“I knew Seid as soon as he arrived in Milan,” Donnarumma told ANSA.

“We lived together in Milan’s boarding school, it was a few years ago, but I don’t want and I can’t forget his incredible smile and his joy of life. He was a friend of mine, I guy just like me.”
